ACME Home Lifts

For those who need an elevator but space, time or cost are an issue

Home lifts are an excellent solution for anyone looking for more access than a stairlift can provide, yet do not have the space, time or budget needed to install an elevator. Although stairlifts offer a good solution for anyone that can walk or transfer into it’s chair with minimal assistance, they are not the best solution for someone in a wheelchair. An elevator on the other hand, costs more, may require remodeling or an addition, and can take months from sale to installation.

Is a home lift right for you?

ACME offers both pitless and shaftless home lifts to suit your needs and space requirements. We offer top brands and custom installation. Read on to discover whether home lifts are right for you.

Home Lifts Overview

Home Lifts are residential lifts that can be installed without a machine room or the typical drive system of traditional elevators. As such, homelifts take up less space and can be installed faster than a residential elevator. They are limited in their travel to two floors.

Whether a home lift is right for you depends partly on how many floors you’ll need to travel within your home. Since a home lift does not need a shaft or a pit, a home addition is not required. It is important to note, that without a home addition, a home lift will reduce your square footage.

If you have a two level home, then a home lift can offer a level of access equivalent to a residential elevator at a lower cost. For homes with three stories or more a traditional elevator is a much more practical solution for providing access to every floor.

Pitless & Shaftless Home Lifts

Shaftless Home Lifts

All homes lifts are by design shaftless. Lifts require an opening to be made in your ceiling (or floor, depending on your viewpoint) to allow the cab to travel through. What makes a lift shaftless is the absence of the surrounding wall structure around the cab, or what is called the shaft. Due to the less robust drive system, governing safety codes permit a shaftless installation. The smaller drive system and motor limit the travel and reduce the weight capacity of a home lift when compared to residential elevators.

Thanks to a few very important features, ACME home lifts are a very safe option. A floating panel above the elevator cab will safely cover the opening the cab travels through as your lift moves downward. In addition, a safety pan below the home lift protects people or objects on downward travel.

Pitless Home Lifts

Pitless home lifts do not have as extensive a drive system as a residential elevator. A traditional elevator needs room above and below the elevator cab within the shaft to accomodate it’s drive system. Some pitless home lifts require a ramp on the first floor of travel to house some of the mechanicals of the drive system. Other models are designed to allow you to place the motor farther away, eliminating this ramp so you can step or roll right into the cab.
